Remember My Map Art??

You all remember my Map Art project that I made for my brother and sister-in-law?
It’s exploded on Pinterest.  Like, I would easily wager that half of you followers found me because of that project.
You know how many times it’s been “repinned”?
96.  ThousandOver 96,000 times.
Huh?!
For reals?!
Yep.  Check it out.
And it just keeps growing in numbers every day.  Cuh-razy.
Well, I did a little Google search to see if anyone linked my project up on their blog.
I found several people who either used my project as inspiration for theirs and several more who gave me a really awesome shout out.
Here are some of the other projects that have been made, inspired by my Map Art.
I love this map journal by How Does She?!!!  I think I’m going to have to make something like this. :)

Fun, huh?!
Here are the blogs that featured my project:

Wow.  I feel the “blog love”.   Or the Pinterest love…I guess some of both!
On that note, after reading some stuff on legal issues with Pinterest (read here and here), I’m not sure what all to think…I’ve sort of lost interest in it and haven’t been on it hardly at all for the last month or so.  Sad.  It is such a cool idea, but stinks when things get all legally icky.
As far as my blog is concerned, I’m totally flattered when people “pin” my stuff.  Like, it adds an extra bounce in my step, kind of flattered.   But I can understand why some people (photographers, shop owners, etc.) might not want their stuff to get pinned.
Anyway, all that to say – I cannot believe one of my projects has been “pinned” so much!  I’ve even had random friends tell me they saw in on Pinterest before they knew it was mine.  One friend saw it on the main DIY section.  My sister-in-law’s friend in Texas even saw it on Pinterest and thought it my SIL would like it, even before she went to her house and saw the exact one on her shelf!  Too funny.  :)
What do you guys think about Pinterest??  Anyone being cautious and deleting their accounts?
I can’t decide.
Love,
K

  1. Congrats on 96,000+ pins! Wow!! I didn’t realize there was so much legal stickiness going on with Pinerest until I read the articles you linked to. Really makes you stop and think….

  2. Thank you so much for posting your tutorial on how to do this. It is a wonderful idea and I actually did it but on a piece of wood instead! Check it out :)

  3. That is crazy awesome!! I need to look at that tutorial again, because I really want to make something similar! I’m OBSESSED with maps. I don’t why :)

I feel you on the Pinterest thing…it makes me nervous. I definitely don’t want to delete my account because I’ve found so many awesome projects and recipes, but I rarely pin anymore. Ugh. If things get wserious I’ll save stuff elsewhere and delete my account. We’ll see!

I love your idea, and your blog. I’ve been unsubscribing from many lately – just being selective of how I spend my time. Love Pinterest too and have no intentions of leaving it. I understand the unrest about copyright, copying, etc. From my view, the good far outweighs the bad.

    Thanks for your fun writings.
