Last summer, I came across this post from my friend Bec at Little Lucy Lu. I showed the post to Skyler and told him "this would be cool for Zeek's room!" No nagging involved - the man went out on his own, found a pallet, cut and tore them apart, sanded them, put them back together and brought one inside to say "ta da!"
I was pleased with my man, for sure! He did a great job. :)
I'm not going to show you how to do it because 1.) I didn't watch him so I don't know exactly how he did it and 2.) Bec did a great job on her tutorial.
Here's Bec's:
And here are ours!
We chose to leave them unpainted since almost all of his furniture is white already and I am going for an "industrial/colorful/whimsical/animal" room... :)
I like them a lot! Even though they are only a few inches deep, they actually hold several books. I keep the ones up here that I don't want him to get down by himself.
You can see that they are hung up next to my ABC flash card art! :)
We've got a few projects to make for this summer out of pallets. I love all of the pallet ideas floating around! I'm not sure I'd want to make a bed out of them, like I've seen in a few places, because of the chemicals that they can be treated with.... but some of the other stuff is cool - especially the outdoor furniture/sand boxes, etc!
Have you made anything with a pallet? Show me!
Love,
K
