Pinterest Challenge: Homemade Snow Globes

I have seen a few posts of homemade snow globes now on other blogs and also on Pinterest and I LOVE the idea.  They are so adorable - even without water.

My friend Kellie made some the other day for her church foyer and they turned out SUPER cute...and it pushed me over the edge enough to go to Michael's and buy some little green trees and snow - even though I was really trying not to buy any more Christmas decor this year.  Luckily, they "Little Village" stuff was all 50% off, so it wasn't too bad!  I got a whole package of 21 trees for $10.99 and a package of snow for $1.49.

Here are my inspiration pieces:

I didn't like the snow that I bought, but unfortunately it was the only kind my Michael's had.  It's sort of glittery, so it stuck to the walls of the snow globe and made them look milky, not so much "wintery"...so I used my snow a little more sparingly.  And not at all in some jars.

Good bag of pretty tree's!

Ok bag of decent "snow"...

I gathered up a bunch of random jars.

Filled them with trees and snow, and arranged them on a tray.

Added some greenery clippings from our Christmas tree and some of my "Harvest" cinnamon scented pinecones (which I used at Thanksgiving).

I had some extra snow and a few left over trees.  I wanted to use all of it to show Skyler that I'm really getting my money's worth, so I washed out my old big jar that I used to use for powder laundry soap.  (Now, I'm making my own laundry soap and it's liquid, so I haven't used this jar for a few months.).

This, in addition with a smaller one that I had the pinecones in, are now giving me a lovely winter wonderland scene on my coffee table!  I added a moose ornament that Jeremy & Shannon gave Skyler for Christmas last year (from Anthropologie, I think).

I love how they all turned out!  Which shouldn't be a big surprise, since I love glass so much.  :)  Skyler can attest to it.  He always gives me a hard time about going anywhere where there might be glass jars.  They're just so cute and I love seeing things that are stored in jars!  Can't help it. :)

Oh, and Zeek gave these his stamp of approval.

Hopefully daddy thinks they're just as cool to look at as Zeeky does! ;)

Love, K
