And, I told you I love doilies. And lace. And other "grandma" things. I had bought a couple packages of doilies in 2 sizes from the Dollar Tree to use on Thanksgiving for the table setting. I decided the carry the theme through to Christmas and make some doily Christmas decor! Naturally, I searched Pinterest and came up with a few projects that were easy to complete and made with items that I already had.
I wasn't even really looking for a project to make at the time - I was just browsing - when I found this cute lighted paper doily wreath:
I looked at the Martha Stewart website for the supplies they used, and realized I had everything I already needed. I love when that is the case - it's always easier to be motivated to make something when you don't have to run to the store first. :)
I had this wreath form already - very similar to the one on the Martha Stewart website. I had bought it from Goodwill a few months ago for a chandelier idea for our back patio...but that project won't be until spring! :)
I first wrapped it with the white strand of lights I had, just sitting in my Christmas bin, waiting to be used.
I wish I had the cute different little doilies like on the MS website, but I didn't...so I stuck with just the larger size and decided to overlap them. I took a section of twisty ties and cut them in half to double the amount I had to work with.
As I overlapped each one, I took a twisty-tie to each side to carefully secure it to the wire wreath.
I used one twisty-tie to also secure a doily ornament that I had also in the bin. Hung it up in the kitchen window!

I like the original better, but hey - for a free project, not bad! :)

P.S. Skyler is generally great support of my crafting. Today however... well, he walked in the house, took a look at the wreath and goes, "where did you get that obnoxious thing?!" me: "WHAT!?" Sky: "Why did you buy that?" Me:"I MADE it!!" Sky: "...oh, um ok. I'm sorry. It's really nice honey. I just thought you spent money on it." ... He tried for another 5 minutes to make up for his comment, but really just never made it better...lol. :) Eh, it's ok. As long as he still lets me craft, he can like or not like what I make all he wants! And almost always he likes and compliments what I make. Can't always win, right? :)
