Welcome to our Home!

Well, it's been 10 months since we've been married and been in this apartment.  It's home.  It's our comfort place.  Our little sanctuary.  We love it. :)

Just cleaned it well for a game night tonight, so thought I'd give you all a little tour of the Anderson's Humble Abode.

Welcome...

As you approach our apartment, you are greeted with a lovely hanging basket that I got from work for Administrative Day.

Once inside our apartment, you will step into our living room.  It's ginormous for an apartment living room.  Plus, our apartment people let us paint so we painted EVERY room! :)

Then the bathroom:

Master Bedroom.  I love blues and whites.  So relaxing. :)

Bedroom #2 - the Funky Tacky room!  Sewing center, piano, computer room, homework room, surfboard storage...West Coast Paintball Series storage....No matter how hard we try, it never looks clean.  So don't judge (too much!). :)

The "Country" Kitchen.  Where I spend many many hours!

And the quaint little garden on our patio:

There you go!  There's our little humble abode.

And now the burning question:  where are we going to put the crib?

Anthropologie Inspired Tea Towels

My brothers awesome girlfriend, Shannon, bought me the most adorable tea towel from Anthropologie for a wedding present.  See:

Cute huh? I LOVE blues and greens and little birdies, so it was perfect for me.  Shannon and Jeremy live in Texas now but they came back last weekend for a short visit and a friends wedding.  I decided to make Shannon a little gift (since I know she adores Anthro also), so I thought I'd try to whip up a couple of my own tea towels.  I was pretty pleased for rushing through it (I don't think I can do anything slow the first time...I'm just too excited to get through it and see how it turns out! Bad habit...haha).   Anyway, a little fabric, a little trim, an applique and some stitching later and voila!

My own Anthropologie tea towels. :)

I know, not nearly as fancy as the Anthro ones...But it's a decent stab at it, right?! ;)
We enjoyed having Shannon and Jeremy here, even though it was much too short a visit. :( We spent Father's Day at the (COLD) Oregon Coast (with rain), but we had a great time! OOH and we even saw the mom from Little People, Big World!! She was just strolling with her daughter and having lunch along the Newport Bay (NOT in Mo's like we were however.).  Here's a few pics from our lovely day:

Jeremy, Shannon and Skyler checkin' out the Sea Lions

Here they are! See the one in the middle, flopped on top of the other two?  Yeah, he just jumped right up on them from the water, weaseled his way between them, and to the other side of the dock and jumped back in the water.  I'm thinking a brother Sea Lion breaking up his sister and boyfriend??
What do you think? :)

Skyler building a sandcastle for Kaily...looks comfortable.

And my weird family.  I think 3/5th's of them thought we were jumping.  We were not.

A great family day at the beach.  A great family. :)

West Coast Paintball Series Event 3

Last Saturday we had our Event #3 of the WCPS I5-man tournaments.  Thankfully we lucked out with GORGEOUS weather!  I am pretty sure that was the first sunny tournament since our first one last August.  I almost didn't know how to handle a sunny tournament...Wasn't I supposed to be hiding out in the Planet Eclipse tent?  And curled up in a ball in my camping chair?  With 3 blankets over me?  And 5 layers of clothes on?  (Usually...yes..) But no no no. Not Saturday.  I was in shorts and a tanktop, thank you very much! :)

As usual with our procrastinator selves, we were up until 11:30 on Friday night printing off registration forms, paint tickets, putting together registration packets, packing up the plastic tubs, gathering a random assortment of food to hold us over for the day, and COMPLETELY destroying our apartment. (Happens every time, sadly).  Saturday we woke up at 4:30 (yes, 5 hours of sleep) and showered, loaded the Subaru and headed to Warpaint.  We had to pick up the big paint truck there (slightly bigger than one of those really large U-Haul's).  By 5:45 we were on our way to the field, Splat Action, in Molalla.  We watched the sun rise through our ginormous windshield in the truck.  It was beautiful.  It was already a good day. :)

We arrived at the field just before 7 and a couple cars were already there.  I had never been to this field before, and wow.  I was stunned.  It was a gorgeous field.  You knew you were in Oregon.  It was as if the tournament was right in the middle of a state park.  Huge fir trees everywhere.  Mmm, yes.  I do love my Oregon.  Even before 7 am. :)  This is always the hardest part for us: scrambling to set up the tent, tables, signs, etc. before people arrive and want to register (usually 7:30 or so).  We need to work out a new system.  We know that we will fight during this 1/2 hour of set up (and usually for a couple hours on Friday while prepping).  It's just our routine.  But we know we mean nothing by it and we are both just focused and want to get things taken care of...so we tend to get a little snappy and quick tongued with each other.... But by the time the teams are registering and getting settled, Skyler is praising me for my job well done in being organized. :)

Anyway - the day was a bit long - we didn't finish until almost 7 and we didn't get home until after 10.  But it was SUNNY and gorgeous, and we spent the entire day outside, so I have not a single thing to complain about!  The whole day went smoothly, teams were having fun, we had the biggest spectator turn out yet, and a whopping 21 teams showed up! Our last biggest tournament was 15 teams.  It was a successful and fun day.  I've said it before and I'll say it again: paintballers are some of the most cool, relaxed, fun people that I know.  I totally enjoy hanging out with them all and getting to know them, tournament after tournament. :)

Pictures from the day:

My sexy man in front of my station :) Check out the cool trophies! Skyler came up with that idea - it's engraved in wine barrels. Can we get any more Oregonian?

More Pillows...

Hello, we meet again.  It's been a busy busy couple of weeks and I feel I haven't written in forever.  I couldn't even tell you what we've been busy with - just...life. (Meant to post this a few days ago...)

I did make those two pillows for my couch a couple weeks ago, that I had talked about forever ago. Except, once I got them out on my couch, I thought they just didn't look quite right.  So I moved the two gold pillows I had on my bed out to the couch and put the new ones on my bed... perfect. :) Much better.  I realized that my living room is more golds and creams, where my bedroom is WHITE! So it only made sense. :) I found the fabric for these pillows in the remnants section a long time ago at JoAnn's.  It was beautiful.  And cheap.  Which made it even more beautiful. :) It wasn't quite big enough to cover the front and back sides, so I used a plain white cotton fabric for the back side.  I love the romantic feel of the pure white and the little ribbon flowers. Here they are:

(And of course Scooter had to jump in the picture.)

Also, one of my BFF's, Amy, is having a birthday today.  (HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!!!) She lives in Portland and we usually get to see each other only about once a month.  So we planned a date last week and she came down to Salem for some delicious Walery's pizza!  As I said, my life had been insanely busy with who-knows-what, and even though I had it in mind to use this PRETTY fabric for a pillow for her like more than a month ago, I didn't make time to actually make the pillow until about an hour before we were to meet...SO.  Needless to say, it could've looked better....And I'm sorry for my hastiness, dear Amy.  But I'm so thrilled that you acted excited and loved it all the same (he he).

The fabric was actually an old shower curtain that I had found at this AWESOME church garage sale here in Salem.  I had wanted to go when the sale first started, but didn't end up making it there until the end of the day on the 2nd day of the sale.  Worked out well for me though, because you could stuff everything in a paper bag for $3 and everything that didn't fit was only 1/2 off!  And the gym at the church was still PACKED with stuff!! I would've loved to see how much stuff they started with! I think I spent at least 2 hours in there.  Maybe 3.  That's where I found the frame for my earring hanger.  Anyway, when I saw it, I immediately really liked the shower curtain but saw it had a large rip in it...Since it took up minimal room in my paper bag, I shoved it in, knowing I'd find SOMETHING to do with it.  I mean, a bag for $3...so it was practically free anyway, right?! :) Anyway, once I brought it home I realized how much it reminded me of something Amy would have in her house.  And I know she has an obsession with pillows like me.

 Shower Curtain Fabric:

So, I used one of the pillow forms I had found at Ikea, and used some extra white cotton fabric for lining.  I made the simple square but added an extra triangle peak at the top, so I could fold it over on the pillow like and envelope.  I'd seen a pillow like this in Aunt Bee's and loved it and have been wanting to make one since!

Sewn together with the white cotton lining, inside out:

Turned right side out and sewn across the top for the "envelope fold":

Plus, I got to use my button cover thing for the first time ever! So easy, and it turned out so cute with a matching button. :)

Here she is:
(Sorry for the bad pic.  This was like 5 min before I had to run out the door to meet her...hehe)

Dreamy yellow, huh? I love that fabric!! I still have some left over and may have to make something for myself with it...hmmm. :)

Anyway, I am excited to be blogging again today.  I disliked two whole weeks (or maybe 3???) with out my blogging outlet. Writing is so good for me! I love it. :)

On another note, we've been preparing for our Event #3 for the West Coast Paintball Series which will be this Sat, June 12th.  (Part of the busy-ness...) We have 26 teams signed up!!  The most we've had before was 15! This will be a lot of fun and it's supposed to be clear and 80 degrees!  (I sure hope so.)  This will definitely be a challenge to Skyler and I to see if we can pull it off professionally still with this many teams, without running around with our heads cut off - or at least not letting the players notice that we are. :)  I'll post after this weekend is over and let you know how it went.  Thankfully, Skyler and I have mastered last minute craziness/running around/flying by the seat of our pants with this tournament series....I think. :) Saturday will be the true test. hehe.

Hope you all have been doing lovely.

Love, K

P.S. Since I was supposed to post this on the 10th, but never got my pics downloaded...we had the tournament already. It was yesterday...but I'm too exhausted from it to post today...If that's any indicator...soon, I'll share the goodness. :)
