We “played a game” at our condo there in Orlando and tried to “shoo” a wild duck from our back door,
through our condo, and out through our front door so it would be waiting in the small vestibule between our
front door and our neighbors (as a nice surprise to them). Let it be known – ducks don’t “shoo” by waving
a towel at them. Apparently it really freaks them out and causes them to fly rampant around your condo.
Just a heads up… :)

Here is Skyler "shoo-ing" towards our front door, then trying to open the sliding door quickly, after the
poor confused duck kept flying into it....
We enjoyed our beloved Cracker Barrel and we got to visit my family in Sarasota, FL (one of my favorite
towns). Skyler got to spear gun fish with my cousin Collin, which was something he had wanted to do for a
really long time. It was so cute to see him so excited about it! We shell searched, walked the beaches and
enjoyed our time, regardless of the humidity (well, don’t ask Skyler. He might tell you otherwise).

Cousin Collin and us
After a week of FL, we flew to New York. NYC was a shocker! It was everything I’d ever heard it to be – incessant honking cars, steam rising from manholes, rats in the subways and on the roads, people everywhere, taxi’s everywhere. I just had to keep reminding myself of great advice from the movie Elf, “the yellow ones don’t stop!”
We had a great time and got to visit with a some of Skyler’s good friends who live there, see some great sites, and learn some interesting things. I learned that if you wanted to buy one of those giant floor pianos like in the movie Big, it’s going to cost you $250,000 dollars. It's on my Christmas list for next year, if any of you are having a hard time deciding what to buy me...
We went to the Today show in Rockefeller Center, saw the old World Trade Center site, rode the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty (way smaller than you’d think…), and roamed Times Square!

Without wanting to leave the good bird stories only for Florida, I had probably the most pathetic moment of my life in NYC. It was the day we were flying out and we were lugging our bags from where we were staying in Manhattan to Skyler’s friends place in Queens. We had to carry our heavy bags (I guess mine could have been lighter without that extra weeks worth of clothes that I always pack) down two levels to the lowest subway, on the crowded subway train, up two levels back to the street, down several blocks to the next subway, all while being in a dress and very hot and sticky. While walking down the street, I start making a mental “woe is me” checklist: I’m hot, I’m sweaty, I’m carrying heavy bags, I’m starving, etc.Two seconds after I finish my complaint in my head, plop! A pigeon poops on me. No joke. (And people wonder why I HATE birds)… All the way down my arm and my bag. I just stood there, started crying and held out my arm as Skyler whips out his handy wet wipes and cleans me up. What a guy. :)
So there you have it. I think I experienced almost every NYC stereotype…
What a great honeymoon though. I cannot wait to go back again to my new love: NYC. Yes, I will come back to you some day.
